  • The Chakras: 7: Sahasrara Chakra

The seventh primary energy centre, known as the Sahasrara Chakra or Crown chakra, is situated at the crown centre of the top of the head. This chakra primarily governs spiritual connections, higher consciousness, divine wisdom and universal unity. Sahasrara means ‘Thousands of Petals’ or its shape like a lotus with thousands of petals and radiating upward. Its colour is Violet, deep Purple or pure brilliant White light. Its element is cosmic energy. Also, its character is a thought process or pure consciousness.

If imbalance can cause chronic fatigue, neurological issues, poor sleep pattern, nerve pain or light sensitivity. If Sahasrara Chakra is an underactive, person can feel lack of direction or lack of purpose, cynical thinking or a feeling of detachment towards others.

Overactive Sahasrara Chakra leads to the person feeling ungrounded, living entirely in the clouds. A spiritual egoism is also manifested by over activation of this chakra.

Now how to balance this chakra? A chakra which establishes an important relationship between divine energy and the human body. A silent meditation, Yoga asanas such as shirshasna, anulome-vilome pranayama etc. are very good for this chakra. A person should also connect to the beauty of nature and must undergo Aroma Therapy.
