Socks, which we know and use frequently in daily life are a common example of compression garments. However, compression stockings used for varicose veins are considered lifesaving garments. From head to toe these products are used daily by millions of people throughout the world. Compression garments come in many sizes and shapes which include not only socks but also sleeves, bodysuits, gloves, leggings, face mask and many more.

Certain products are especially designed for use before and after surgeries, especially Plastic Surgeries. A plethora of uses makes it important to understand the essentials and how they can benefit people without posing life threatening risks. We should also know about the type, grade, and material used in manufacturing these products. Some are used in daily life while others prescribed by doctors and hospitals.

Normally, there are two types of Compression Garments one is for daily wear and other is for medical use. Daily wear products are usually have Class one compression or less, but medical compression garments are of higher quality and are approved by the responsible authorities. These medical garments may range from Class one to Class two, Class three and beyond. They also require specific precautions when being worn. If the compression go beyond the approval limits, it can be fatal.  Always know about the garments, their measurement scale and instructions given or take advice of specialists.
